Bernie has been a part of the Akers Financial Group team since February 2016. He holds Series 7 and Series 66 securities licenses and brings decades of leadership experience to the firm. Prior to joining Akers, Bernie retired from Northrop Grumman Corporation, where he served as Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Earlier in his career, he was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Northrop Grumman’s legacy IT sector.
Bernie has a strong background in financial and business management. He earned both his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting and his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Loyola College. He also completed the General Management Program at Harvard Business School. His areas of expertise include precious metals and alternative currencies, as well as portfolio and risk management, supported by extensive business analysis and strategic leadership experience.
A Baltimore County native, Bernie and his wife Terry have lived in Ellicott City for more than 30 years. He is a sports enthusiast who enjoys traveling with his wife and spending time with their two grown children.
