Andy joined Akers Financial Group in April 2024 after retiring from a distinguished career as a music teacher and band director with Harford County Public Schools. Following his retirement, he pursued the Certified Financial Planner™ designation and successfully passed the CFP® exam in November 2023. Andy also holds Series 65, 63, and 7 securities licenses, along with a Maryland Life and Health Insurance license.
In his current role, Andy supports the advisory team by preparing for client meetings and contributing to the development of comprehensive financial plans. His work helps ensure clients receive thoughtful, well-structured guidance tailored to their financial goals.
Beyond his financial career, Andy has an extensive musical background. He previously served as a trumpet player and ceremonial bugler in the U.S. Army Band and holds both a bachelor’s degree in music theory and composition and a master’s degree in jazz trumpet performance. He continues to perform throughout Maryland as a vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist, often alongside his wife, Trish, an accomplished vocalist and retired art teacher. They live in Bel Air, and their son Chris works as an IT professional with Diamond Technologies in Wilmington, Delaware.
