Andy became a part of Akers Financial Group in April 2024. After retiring from his career as a music teacher and band director in Harford County Public Schools, he pursued the Certified Financial Planner™ designation, successfully passing the CFP® exam in November 2023. Andy holds the Series 65, 63, 7, and Maryland Life and Health Insurance licenses.
Currently, Andy assists our advisors by:
- Preparing for client meetings
- Contributing to the development of financial plans.
In addition to his financial expertise, Andy has a rich musical background. He served as a trumpet player and ceremonial bugler in the U.S. Army Band. His educational qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in music theory/composition and a master’s degree in jazz trumpet performance. Outside of his financial work, Andy frequently performs as a vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist throughout Maryland. He often collaborates with his wife, Trish, who is an accomplished vocalist and retired art teacher. Together, they reside in Bel Air. Their son Chris is employed as an IT professional with Diamond Technologies in Wilmington, DE.
